ARTIST STATEMENT
My images usually happen with intent and study, in solitude, away from crowds and in the noise of quiet. I live to see, I love open spaces, and I'm stimulated by light. It is no wonder I make my home in The Land of Enchantment and travel the vast expanses of the West. If I come out of a mountain or desert area with one image that I really love, I'm happy. My studio work is often more statement oriented though the internal creative process is similar. I sometimes search the pictures in my mind for an extended period of time to discover the next photograph in a studio series.
My photographs come from many places. Place is more an identifier for the image than a connection to the location itself. What is most relevant is the feeling experienced in being there and my desire to express that feeling through my art.
